Beijing Daxing International Airport (IATA: PKX, ICAO: ZBAD) is a super-large international aviation comprehensive transportation hub built in Daxing District, Beijing. It is a 4F-level international airport, a world-class aviation hub, and a new source of national development momentum.
Beijing Daxing International Airport started construction on December 26, 2014, and was officially opened to navigation on September 25, 2019.
In November 2014, the French architectural firm ADP Ingenierie and the Zaha Hadid studio successfully won the design project of Terminal T1 of the new Beijing airport.
The terminal building of Beijing Daxing International Airport is in the shape of a spreading phoenix, with a five-finger corridor shape. The design is centered around passengers. There are 82 boarding gates in the entire terminal building, and it takes no more than 8 minutes for passengers to walk from the center of the terminal building to any boarding gate.
As of February 2021, the terminal building of Beijing Daxing International Airport covers an area of 780,000 square meters. The civil aviation apron has 223 aircraft parking positions, including 76 close-in positions and 147 remote positions. There are 4 runways, which can meet the demand of handling 72 million passenger trips, 2 million tons of cargo and mail, and 620,000 aircraft takeoffs and landings by 2025.
