As cherry blossoms gradually bloom, Shanghai will become a sea of cherry blossoms in mid-to-late March. Here are some great spots in downtown Shanghai for cherry blossom photography:
- Park Below the Oriental Pearl Tower
- Use an ultra-wide-angle lens at night to capture the cherry blossoms surrounding the Oriental Pearl Tower.
- The blue hour (twilight) offers excellent lighting for photography.
- Shoot from the stairs of the overpass, where the Starbucks logo complements the cherry blossoms.
- Pudong South Road (Former Dongchang Road) Metro Station
- Cherry blossoms greet you right outside the metro station, perfect for capturing the blend of blossoms and urban scenery.
- Use aerial photography to create a panoramic shot featuring the "Three Pieces" (Lujiazui skyscrapers), cherry blossoms, and the photographer.
- Hongkou Football Stadium
- Find a framing composition among the cherry blossoms and wait for a passing train to capture the perfect shot.
- A nearby tea shop with a Japanese-style aesthetic is great for daytime and nighttime photography, especially when the pink lights turn on in the evening.
- Classic photo spots and capturing pedestrians on the overpass through the cherry blossoms.
